Bangladesh takes on Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2012 finals. It has been a big surprise for the cricketing world to see Bangladesh into the finals and teams like India and Srilanka eliminated. India would find themselves unfortunate to have been knocked out even though they were tied up with Bangladesh on 8 points. Fortunately for Bangladesh they defeated India in the league phase and hence they proceeded to the finals.
Bangladesh was under the scanner right from the selection phase. Especially the selection of Tamim Iqbal was criticised but he proved his critics wrong. He is currently the third highest scorer in the series with three scores of more than 50. Bangladesh seems to be learning a lot under the Australian coach Stuart Law. Not to forget this is their first ever entry into the finals of Asia Cup.
Pakistan on the other hand are still favourites to clinch the trophy but they are wary of the fact that Bangladesh have already beaten India and Srilanka comprehensively in the league phase and Bangladesh being the weaker side will play under less pressure. Shahid Afridi has badly failed in this tournament with bat and ball and final would be the ideal match for him to showcase his brilliance. Overall Pakistani batting and bowling line up has been upto the mark so far.
As far as the pitch is concerned it would stay low in nature. Till now the team batting second has enjoyed the results so both the teams would prefer to bowl first and then chase the target under the lights. Let us see whose day it would be. Will it be Bangladesh who would write their names in gold by winning this Asia Cup which featured World Champions India and World Cup runner ups Srilanka or will it be Paksitan who would win the Asia Cup title for the second time.
