Match Update: Srilanka beats Australia to level the finals 1-1
Australia is on the verge of another series win under the captaincy of Michael Clarke as they take on Srilanka in the 2nd final here at Adelaide Oval. Australia clinched a narrow hard fought win against Srilanka two days ago. It was merely a 15 runs win where the match could have swinged either ways but finally Australia emerged as the winner; thanks to a brilliant ton from David Warner.
Australia would be wary of their bowling attack which looked pretty consistent till the last match but they leaked away runs heavily in death overs and turned a comfortable win into a hard fought one. Pattinson and Hilfenhaus gave away more than 90 runs in nine overs, which compelled Clarke to hand over the bowling to David Hussey. Although David Hussey couldn't score runs but he managed to claim 4 Lankan wickets.
Doubts are served on Warner's availability for this match due to an injury. If he doesn't play, Peter Forrest may get an opportunity. Shane Watson may then have to open the innings. McKay may repleace Hilfenhaus.
Srilankan bolwer Malinga stands tall with most number of wickets in CB Series but he is also the bowler with highest economy rate. He needs to control runs flowing from his own bowling. Angelo Matthews plays a nice all rounder role in the team and if he can recover from his injury, he could be a good addition to the team.
Again a lot would be expected from the batting trio of Dilshan, Sangakkara and Jayawardene. Chandimal who has been a lot consistent needs to click in the 2nd final to give Srilanka a stronger base in posting a big total. Weather looks clear and pitch seems to be batting friendly with more support to the spinners.
