IPL fever continues
People speculated that this year IPL won't be that successful simply because of the recent conclusion of the World Cup. The biggest reason for this speculation was that people saw loads of exciting matches in the World Cup and the Indian fans could see their long awaited dream come true after the World Cup victory, so probably the passion must have reached a saturation point. This could have been the reason for such speculations regarding IPL 2011.
Well things have changed after first few matches of IPL. Slowly again this great game of cricket has catched all eyeballs. Thanks to some exciting matches in this year's IPL. A team like Mumbai Indians have been purely dominant so far leading the points tally. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings have slowly got their rhythm back and they are climbing up the points tally too. Some teams have obtained a mixed success.
Overall things are proceeding very well as IPL leads to the next round. In short we could say the cricket fever is still alive and continues to entertain the cricket fans currently in the form of IPL.

India Vs New Zealand 1st Test Begins With Sehwag Fireworks
India Vs New Zealand 1st Test
Virender Sehwag is in a festive mood of Diwali as he wants to lit up some crackers at the Motera stadium in Ahmedabad. Surprisingly after 9 loss of tosses on the trot, MS Dhoni managed to win a toss and with a smile on his face he elected to bat first.
Some surprise to add on, Sreesanth was into the playing eleven and Ishant Sharma was kept out. India has all their star players back into the side including VVS Laxman, Dravid, Gambhir. India suffered an early exit of Gambhir but Sehwag has anchored the innings pretty well scoring quickly and dominating the Kiwis.
The historic stadium of Motera has observed several records being created on its soil which includes Gavaskar reaching 10,000 test runs landmark, Kapil Dev breaking Richard Hadlee's record of highest test wickets, Sachin scoring his first ever double ton and many more. Daniel Vettori is playing his 100th test match here. Probably Dravid will reach the landmark of 200 catches and Sachin may go ahead and score his 50th test century on Motera.

Spot Fixing Saga Continues
Spot Fixing Controversy
ICC rejects the appeals of Salman Butt and Mohammad Aamir and both the cricketers stay suspended. Michael Beloff, the ICC code of conduct commissioner was heading the hearing. He said he has considered every aspect of the case before rejecting their appeals. He also added that these players will have to appear in front of an independent anti-corruption tribunal which will look into this matter and decide the fates of the players.
The third cricketer accused, Mohammad Asif opted to withdraw the appeal and he also stands suspended. These three players were alleged to have bowled intentional no balls during Pakistan Vs England test series this year.
Pakistan cricket image has been hampered a lot due to this match fixing controversy and even their team hasn't seen a good time in recent past in terms of the outcome of their matches. Currently Pakistan is playing against South Africa and suffered defeats in T20 matches and facing a daunting task ahead in the ongoing ODI series and forthcoming test series.

England Beats Pakistan In 1st T20

England are T20 world champions and they had to play like champions. Keeping behind all the off field issues of spot fixing, Pakistan batted first. Under overcast conditions they merely managed to score 126 for 4. Umar Akmal was the highest scorer for Pakistan with 35 runs from 30 balls. GP Swann claimed 2 wickets giving away just 14 runs from his 4 overs.
Replying to Pakistan's 126, England lost wickets at regular intervals till the time they reached 62 for 5. But a good partnership between Morgan (38 not out) and Yardy (36 not out) took England home with almost 3 overs to spare and 5 wickets remaining.
MH Yardy was declared Man Of The Match.

As the clouds of match fixing become denser with Pakistani trio being alleged to have been involved in spot fixing; the Pakistani team today take on England in a T20 series. The team has to put behind all the blues and concentrate on the game. They won't have the services of their quick duo Asif and Aamir. They will also miss the services of their captain Salman Butt as these three players are alleged to be involved in match fixing.
Pakistan will be glad to have Shahid Afridi back into the team but it won't be an easier to lead the Pakistani team at this moment. At the same time England team looks to be a relaxed unit as they have been performing really well in the recent past in all forms of cricket. Talking about their last 5 T20 matches; they have won it all. Not to forget they are the T20 world champions.

Sachin's 48th century sets India's fightback in 2nd test

After losing the 1st test against Srilanka, India was again facing a danger of follow on when early on the third morning India lost three quick wickets with Sehwag stumped on 99!
But Sachin and Raina played well to take India to a safer position. Sachin scored his 48th century and he is just piling up his records. This is his 94th international century.

Ponting reaches 12000 test runs in Test Cricket

Ricky Ponting the legendary batsman from Australia has reached 12000 test runs and has joined Sachin Tendulkar in the 12000 club. These two are the only batsmen to have reached this landmark in Test Cricket. Ricky Ponting is currently playing against Pakistan in a test series. Interesting thing is both Sachin and Ponting took equal number of innings (147) to reach this milestone of 12000 runs.
While Ponting reaches 12000 mark, Sachin has already crossed 13500 runs in test cricket and he is currently busy playing the India Srilanka Test series.

Australia all out for 88 - Second lowest test score against Pakistan

Is this the same Australian team that we knew about a year ago? Is this the same team that knew just one thing... Victory! Well this team was very predicatable till a year ago where we could always say, "Is Australia playing? They are going to win!". But things have changed now. This team has tasted a lot of losses in the recent past.
After beating Pakistan in the first test, Australia were bowled out for just 88 in the first innings of the second test. This is their second lowest total in a test match against Pakistan, the previous one being 80 in 1956.
Pakistan have got a very good start where they have already posted a lead on Australia with the loss of just one wicket.
